When I finished my recent novel, Black Seraphim , a friend asked me what genre did it belong to.
I blurted out "Urban Fantasy." Something I said on the spur of the moment. It was an answer that came to me because the story sometimes takes place in a couple cities and has supernatural beings in it. But it is no more Urban Fantasy than it is a drug story, even though one of its main characters is a drug lord. Or a war story, because it has a character who is a soldier, albeit he is fighting a war he realizes he can't win.
Nor is it a Christian story, even though it revolves around an angel.
No, Black Seraphim is a love story. I can't say that enough. It's about love, the love between a man and woman, parent to child, citizen to country, believer to faith, a person to his or her own identity and skin.
I wanted to write a story that peers at different affections. I did not want to study them academically by dissecting motives. Rather, I wanted to watch them move people, breathe and grow when and where they could. I will leave the bondage/kink, rom-com, sweeping romance to others. My ambitions in this novel were more touristic.
Of course I want you to buy the book and join me on this journey.
But I don't want you to stop there.
I am a storyteller so I love reading, hearing and telling stories. That is why I am going to use this site to have fun and share my enthusiasm by posting story excerpts, interviews, reviews and news.
I want to hear from you because we are in this together. Besides, for me, a journey isn't complete without meeting new friends.
